Check me out trying something new!

Currently typing this message using Ubuntu 8.04! Very excited by the fact I didn't manage to mess up the install after 3 times previous with a different version of Linux each time.
Internet is working fine (Although wireless isn't working yet, but i'm trying), got my music all copied over, just the test to see if Cossacks and World Of Warcraft work. If they do, then bye bye windows!
Decided to give Ubuntu a go with the idea of moving onto the eee pc before I go away.
Very excited about my new operating system  Cheesy

Re: Check me out trying something new!

Impressed with her so far. Like the fact that I can select most programs that have been made for Ubuntu using the add/remove app. Very useful.
Got WoW working, was slow at first but once I had found EnvyNG it works around the same sort of standard as when I was on XP.
Shame that iTunes doesn't work though. As that would have completed my changeover Cry
All in all though, an impressive bit of kit! Time to learn all about the ways of Linux  Cheesy < Superb smilie by the way forum guys  Grin

Re: Check me out trying something new!

Have you sussed the wireless yet? I had problems getting the wifi working with my Dell lappy, but a search through the Ubuntu forums provided the answer - a suitably clued up user had built their own driver and published it for all to use.

Not sussed out wireless yet. Not too fussed though as the wired connection is fine for now. Only really important if I eventually get the screen on my laptop fixed (Long story that may require another topic!).
Not tried rythmbox, will give it a go though. I'm guessing its fully iPod compatible?

Lightweights!
I printed my own circuit boards, wrote the machine code myself from scratch and even carved the telegraph poll which carries the internet cable out to the BT line. My keyboard strikes letters direct onto an etch-a-sketch monitor which I designed and built myself.
