OK, so my Father is about to move home. He is currently with TalkTalk.
TalkTalk are not able to keep his existing phone number when moving to his new home, Yes the new and current homes are on the same exchange.
So, do PN have the ability to enable ADSL and Homephone at the time of moving to the new house, and take his current number to that new line all in one go on the day of moving house (give or take a couple of days)? This is the preferred option.
Another option is he changes to PN now, at his current address, and then 6 to 8 weeks later he moves house. This is possible but less preferred.
So what can be done?

sounds personally like it would be better to order PN bb on the new house ~1 week before hes "in" then telling TT to "do one" at the end of the current month.
That way you (should?) be up and running on PN with that week head start, and you've got off TT (you'd need to pay for the final month with TT anyway id expect, and doing it this way TT cant stall / be awkward with anything PN/BT do.
Regards

Yes agreed, it is more important though he can retain his current telephone number though as so *many* people have that number.

Yes, I have heard the horror stories, so far though he has not got through the 'Sales' number for PN as there were 40 minute queues yesterday when he tried.
