Canon IP4500 or Epson SX115?

Which would you prefer?
I normally use the Canon, but got the Epson off freecycle (It had cart issues which I have fixed).
The benefit is the Epson has a built in scanner, and does off line copies, but not sure how much I would use this feature.
Both are supported (before Shutter pipes in)  Cheesy

Re: Canon IP4500 or Epson SX115?

I use the Canon and it does every thing I want including duplex printing
I use non Canon inks - look at these prices for a multi pack own brand and you can specify which cartridges you want in the multipack http://www.moreinks.co.uk/Ink_Cartridges/Canon/Canon_Pixma_iP4500.aspx
I just ordered a 16 pack £1.10 per cartridge

Yep been using Canon ones for many years, a 4000 then a 4200 now this 4500, all using cheap inks from ebay. The Epson is much the same on inks (cost wise) a full set for £2.50 (4 carts).

Re: Canon IP4500 or Epson SX115?

I have the Epson SX115 & the print quality is very good, & on the + side I can get two (yes two) cartridges for £8 or or less locally (mostly @Asda & no doubt could get them cheaper again online (if I wanted to await the snail mail)
Where are you locating the full set of Epson inks for £2.50 ??
&
have you used them to test the amount of ink / quality etc

Re: Canon IP4500 or Epson SX115?

I use the Canon ip4500, as you know it has fine print heads so be careful when buying cheap replacement cartridges, buying originals is too expensive so consider refilling and resetting original cartridges and buying good quality ink.

Re: Canon IP4500 or Epson SX115?

when I had an Epson I bought the refillable cart pack off some website in Singapore (no need to rest the chip as it was a customised job) then just bought bottles of the relevant ink off ebay.
the thing with mfd scanners is often that part will work without the printer side working so if you've got the space you might as well hang onto it providing its got a decent quality scanner output, especially since a lot of things like insurance companies now take direct uploads of documents by PDF, personally I have been requested to mail in insurance docs and driving licences for a bunch of family members and friends because they don't want to pay someone to do it and I have the gadgets Smiley
just because your paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you
