Asus has not released any W7 drivers (and doubt if it will) for the M2N SLI motherboard.
Their own forum suggested that Vista drivers would work for the on-board audio but didn't. Others have suggested that the latest nVidia nForce 560 drivers would do - but didn't.
I tried C-Media for any W7 drivers for the 6501 but no luck there so I am wondering if anyone else has had success with audio on this board or can offer any possible solution.
I could just simply buy a cheap PCI card as my wife only has 2.1 speaker set up but want to avoid it if possible.

Seriously, though, too much has already been invested in M$ software to make changing over to Linux a viable option.
It would be interesting, though, to see if it does work - sadly I don't have the time to try
I have uninstalled Windows drivers and let them get re-installed and still no joy
Can anyone recommend a cheap (sub £25) PCI card (don't want a USB one) that has W7 drivers. So far I can only find those listed for Vista which is not really a true guarantee it will work. Have already checked the relevant manufacturer's sites for latest updates.

If you enter "Sound card windows 7 problems" you get zero hits
I've decided on the SoundBlaster Audigy SE for £24.99 from PCWorld - W7 drivers available.

So Windows 7 costs an extra £25?
