Can anyone recommend any FREE 2D CAD software for a novice?

Want to do some plans for a porch extension, I'm quite good with GoogleSketchup for 3D models, but it's a real Pain to use that for 2D drawing..
I'm looking at producing something like this:

Can anyone recommend any good, quick to pickup 2CD cad software for Win/Linux?  I don't really want to invest the time/money in learning to use a full CAD package with a gazillion options for something that is relatively trivial like the example above.
Many thanks.

I did Google but the problem was there was so much choice and so many has their own limitations, I was hoping someone had already looked into something!

One package I've used under Linux for this is Xfig (http://www.xfig.org/). It's not the most intuitive of products but it does pretty well do what you want. It can export to a range of image and document formats, as well as PS/PDF.

One I have used for a while with Windows 7 is Cad Standard Lite
