Calendar program

SWMBO has been looking for a decent calender program that can do reminders for appointments, birthdays, etc and be configurable regarding such things as sounds and so forth.
I found some on Google but having installed, even using the Custom option, installed lots of gunk.
A search in this forum hasn't found anything. She doesn't want anything like Outlook as she doesn't want links to emails. Free would be good but does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: Calendar program

Hi
Don't know how useful this will be since you mention outlook, but I use a Thunderbird add-on called Lightning
It's highly configurable and has all you ask for and more. It does mean you have to install Thunderbird if you don't use it already, but I guess you can use it solely as a calendar program if you have no use for the email client.
Good luck.

I find Rainlendar Lite to be very good.
