Hi
I am having problems with a game that keeps crashing so it was suggested i run a heat check on my hardware
Problem is i dont know what any of this means excepts something seems to be runnig very hot !!
If i am reading this correctly i have something about to melt and only one fan working ?? This test was done with very little going on i opened up my computer and one fan has a fin missing but surely that wouldnt make that much difference
I am running a 2.93 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core
256 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Multi-core (2 total)
Board: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd. GA-MA74GM-S2H
Bus Clock: 201 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software International, Inc. F1 02/01/2008
Graphics card is Nvidia Ge Force 8500 GT
The test was as follows i have similar reults from other test software i used it is the third temp reading that is way too hot but dont know what that refers to

If temp 3 is your graphics card you have a problem.
Try the using Speedfan which will give a bit more information http://www.almico.com/sfdownload.php
you could also try the Nvidia monitoring utility which is probably already installed
also GPUID will give more info about your graphics card http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/
and Coretemp is quitre good for information about your CPU temperatures http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

Sorry forgot to mention the fan it is the fan on the Graphics card and i have looked in the machine and could not find it so i presume it may have been installed like it

Dont think its the graphic card as just run Techpowerup and that shows GPU at 48 degrees

Are you sure the blade is missing and not that the blades are just unevenly spaced. That blade spacing could be design, to help reduce noise of the fan.
However, if a blade really is missing that should be there, the opposite effect could result, and the fan may be noisier than it was designed to be.

Use some screen grab software and post the result as an image using the Additional Options and Attachments at the lower left whwn posting.
You can use the one built in to the later versions of Windows or the one I use Fastone Image Viewer http://www.faststone.org/

First - with GPUID can you post the sensor page
Now back to fundamentals
That motherboard apparently has passive cooling and as the CPU and GPU temperatures are reported it may be a duff reading.
I am concerned that you stated that you have a dual core CPU but speedfan isn't seeing it.
Can you run CoreTemp and report the result
Also can you reboot and go into BIOS setup (press Del key during boot) then to PC Health Status and check the reported temperatures and fan speed. This picture is what it should look like

You can remove a picture by unchecking it
Other than the CPU temperature being a bit high there isn't anything obviously wrong
If you load Speedfan and select charts you can start graphing the temperatures.
If you then play a game you can stop it after a while and look at the chart you can see if the temperatures are getting a bit high.

I did what you said with the Bios and it says:
Reset case open status ( disabled)
Current sys temp     38 degrees
Current cpu temp     46 degrees
Current cpu fan speed   2840 rpm
Current systen fan speed 0 rpm
CPU WARNING TEMP  80 DEGREES C/176 DEGREES F
CPU FAN FAIL WARNING (DISABLED)
SYSTEM FAN FAIL WARNING (DISABLED)
CPU SMART FAN CONTROL (ENABLED)
CPU SMART FAN MODE (AUTO)
SYS SMART FAN CONTROL ( ENABLED)
So does this explain the dual core problem is one of them oveheating or is this not a problem
I bought the machine as dual core and Belarc says it is dual core so i am concerned this didnt show up in the test.

That isn't a problem.
First although Speedfan didn't see two cores CPUID did so that is a  probably a Speedfan problem
Second the bios only gives the temperature measured just under the heatsink so doesn't do it on a per core basis
The CPU warning temperature is the temperature at which the bios shouts at you with a warning beep or scream.
You could try CoreTemp to see what that says

Core Temp seems ok i think correct me if i am wrong
So at the end of the day it doesnt appear it is anything overheating causing the crash during the game especially as the game is only on for a couple of minutes before it crashes.
although i will monitor it

Are those numbers under load or idling
to change the display name Click on Profile then account related settings and then change the display name
