Re: C Drive

Something to try first:
If you have been rigorously applying Windows updates a huge amount of the space could be taken up with the uninstall files for all the updates. Try http://www.tech-pro.net/windows-update-remover.html - I remove anything older than 1 month on the basis that if I haven't needed to uninstall it by then it's unlikely I ever will.
Have you identified what you want to move?

Re: C Drive

If you have Windows Vista or 7 you can use Windows Disk Management to:

  • Shrink your D: drive (I'm assuming you meant you have one)

  • Create a new partition at the end of the disc

  • Copy the contents of your D: drive to the new partition

  • Delete the D: drive

  • Expand the C: drive into the space created

This gives you a bigger C: drive so you don't have to worry.

Re: C Drive

But make sure that you have all your documents and data backed up first

Re: C Drive

It's always a wise precaution to have everything backed-up but I have never experienced a problem with Windows Disc Management, except that it sometimes isn't prepared to shrink a partition very much.  On the other hand, I have sometimes had problems with other disc repartitioning software.
