Bt Vision box

i have been told that the vision box will not work as a standalone digibox for freeview.
Is it true and do I need to sell it on and invest in a separate box?
Any suggestions for a reasonably priced digi type recorder.

Yes!! you  can "hack" into these boxes and re chip them and install other software..but not for the amateur!!
Got one of these
