Bringing install date forward

anyone had a good experience of trying to get their install date brought forward?

Give up your current reservation and it normally goes back.

Just had FTTC made available in our village as part of a local project, only 100 lines available, it's made things a bit like the broadband equivalent of the Black Friday riots the other week, a couple of people who have gone direct with BT have been able to get their dates brought forward just by taking the initiative of contacting BT and making a bit of noise, I'm a little concerned that the 23rd (my current install date) can't come quick enough so was thinking of trying the same.
