I have just reinstalled win7 x 64 ,    
its running ok but i keep getting a error   which i have never seen before , i google it but with no real help so any ideas from the PN Bright Sparks
I get this error when i open ATI Catylist control center
Error is "ordinal 459 could not be located in the dynamic link library urlmon.dl"

And the annoying thing about that is it gives you a box with [OK] to click to get rid of it,  Yeah  ?

Strat that looks interesting ,,  a windows update causes it  but thing is i dont get updates for IE as i remove IE from my system when i  install  
but will uninstall any IE updates to make sure
PS i didnt find that update in my history 
@shutter  yes it takes 6 time to get rid of it as it reappears after you click it

Nah... it is seriously annoying when those kind of messages appear...without a usable/reasoned explantion of how to fix the problem..... THEN it would be  [OK]

There are lots of references to this problem.  It seems to arise because of incompatibilities between different versions of urlmon.dll.  I would see if there is a later version of the ATI CCC software you could try.  A couple of reports on this thread http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-performance/the-ordinal-459-could-not... say that this worked.

Doing a little light googling produces several references, including Microsoft's own forums, the majority of which connect the problem to removing IE.
In most cases it seems to be cured by reinstalling  IE and applying any relevant Windows Updates.
Why remove it, no-one makes you use it?

HPsauce , i am a believer that if you dont use something why have it installed  and i like to have the minimum of autoruns .
but will try and install IE to see if it stops this annoying error

Before you start, try to work out what version of urlmon.dll you have and whether it changes after you install Internet Explorer.  Maybe uninstalling Internet Explorer caused your computer to revert to an older version of urlmon.dll?

That's fine if you are 100% certain it's a standalone item with no interaction/dependencies/sharing. Sadly we know Microsoft's history with IE (blatant examples Outlook Express and Windows Update) and that certainly was NOT the case in the past. I for one don't believe they've done a 100% cleanup job with later versions on later OS's.
Of course it may be the other software that is at fault, assuming that IE is installed and that the required routines are there.  
Good tip from RR on noting the versions; I'd do a whole PC search to see where copies are lurking and what they are.

Yup it looks like it must have been a bad install  even install IE hasnt fixed it ,
system restore did not fix it either , wierd thing i tried to do a repair install from my disc , it said it wasnt compatible ?? to my version of windows .
so looks like a secure Erase and start again

You cannot go backwards in service packs so if you installed Windows 7 from disc then updated it to Service Pack 1 you could not then use your disc to repair it.

By the way, my Windows 7 x64 machine has urlmon.dll version 11.0.9600.17239 in the C:\Windows\System32 folder, date modified 25/7/2014 .

Interesting, mine in that location is 10.0.9200.17054 modified 24/7/2014 (W7x64) plus loads of versions elsewhere.
