Yahoo toolbars are being pushed out with free applications I have been finding lately hidden through fast installs.  So have you installed anything free recently and used the fast install option and not custom install so you could untick the install options.

No
The only thing(s) I done prior was to uninstall Foxit reader as it installed a cloud app behind my back in a sneaky behind the scenes update by using Revo Uninstaller then used Ccleaner to clean out the crud, both of which has been on the machine for a long time.
Since original post
I have noticed, that SWMBOS account is not being asked

Re: Being asked to install Yahoo's mailto application (anyonelse seeing this)

The yahoo mail website is asking to configure firefox so that when you click a mailto: link, it will compose a new email in the yahoo mail website. It's not really asking to "install" anything and it's not Windows specific, the yahoo mail website is asking me the same thing, and I'm running Linux. If you look in Firefox options, under Applications, and find what Firefox has for mailto: URLs, you'll see that firefox already has options for Googlemail and Yahoo mail, but the Yahoo mail option is only http not https, so perhaps the built-in yahoo mail option is out of date.
