Bargain basement Samsung dual band wireless N gigabit router?

I noticed George and Freddie on Amazon are flogging these discontinued Samsung/Dlink CY-SWR1100 routers for £12.77 including delivery.

I don't expect it to perform as well as an Asus RT-N56u which uses the same chipset, but couldn't resist ordering one at this price given it has 4 gigabit ports. It turned up yesterday, brand new sealed box.
Apart from the blue colour scheme, the menus remind me of older Dlink routers.

Have just ordered one. At that price it's not a lot to lose if it isn't suitable but I move a lot of large files around on my home network so gigabit ports would be handy Smiley

Generally you place the device on the floor infront of you, raise one foot behind you, swing it forward toward the device, and then once complete you have connected one foot to the device... Grin

According to the manual, the 'One Foot Connection' refers to a feature of the router where a compatible Samsung TV will automatically configure its wifi connection to the router, when the router is placed within 1ft of the TV.

Do they really use "Imperial measurements" in japan?  I would have thought the could have made it a 1 metre connection...... ( Or better ) ... especially as in the UK, most of the "master sockets" are near the front door, and we don`t seem to have much room to fit a 56 inch ( Imperial measured) flat screen tv in the hall, on the side of the stairs for the family to watch in "comfort"  ! !  Cheesy

Some sample screen captures of the Samsung/Dlink firmware.
There is a USB2 port on the Samsung router, but it cannot be used for printer or file sharing.

(The Padavan custom firmware for the Asus RT-N56u/N65u/Belkin N750DB/Samsung SWR-1100 enables printer and file sharing on the USB port)

Re: Bargain basement Samsung dual band wireless N gigabit router?

After a long wait for the TTL USB cable to turn up, I finally managed to install Padavan firmware onto the router.
USB file and printer sharing is available.
There isn't a wireless repeater mode, but there is a 'AP & AP Client' mode which is as close as it gets.
Some sample screen captures attached.
