BT Sport - End of Recording Missing

I have BT Sport via Plusnet but watch it via my Sky+ HD box.
Watching live TV is fine but recording from BT Sport is at best haphazard as more often than not the end of the programme is missing. This doesn't happen when recording other channels so why does it happen with BT? Surely it is accepted as a fact of life that live sporting events are prone to over-run, and if other content providers can get around this why can't BT?
Any ideas how to get around this?

Not an elegant solution but if i am worried about a live program overrunning I record the following program as well.

I think on Sky boxes there is an option to do a manual recording which may work. Not sure if you can series link it for that specific time though.

Thanks for the replies.
Yes Sky does allow the option to add extra time to recordings and come to that you can still set recordings manually for any time frame of your choice.
What was annoying on this occasion was that the event took place in January and we only got around to watching it after it was too late to do anything about it, although as luck would have it I found a good quality version on You Tube so was able to watch it via the YouTube app on the Blu-Ray player. Not used it for that before and had almost forgotten that that option existed.
