BT Line Rental and Death

Position is due to death BT account will be terminated at some time next month .
BT account provides the line for my separate Plusnet internet  service  .
What are my options  can i cancel the remaining  7 months of Plusnet contract due to no longer having a landline . Without penalty that is or would PN require the contract paying off in full .
Line rental/ phone service fron PN is an option i know  but PN do not have BT Sport .

Re: BT Line Rental and Death

And you wouldn't get the BT sport for free from BT without taking their broadband package, which seems to be inferred?

Re: BT Line Rental and Death

At present its a question of what are the options  . BT Sport may not be required but may be a selling point for a new contract  .
Yes i know you can get BT Sport on Plusnet but the current method is not for those that do not have a Sky receiver or want to buy one .
Question is  the same  no BT Phone line  will PlusNet allow a termination of the contract without penalty .
I know i can change PN Broadband to include line rental .

Re: BT Line Rental and Death

At a guess - while awaiting staff comment - you may be hit with a cessation charge £30 and an early cancellation charge as given here https://portal.plus.net/my.html?s=0&action=account_summary
Normally on the death of the account holder I believe that these are waived but in your case where it is the BT account holder who has died and not the Plusnet account holder I have no idea

Re: BT Line Rental and Death

Hi jje,
I'm sorry to hear of your loss.
In this instance I would suggest speaking to our Customer Options team to discuss the options available to you. Customer Options are available on 0845 140 6002 or 0330 123 9197 Monday - Friday 09:00 - 20:00 and Saturdays 09:00 - 17:30. A guide is available here: http://www.plus.net/support/customer_service/using/grass_is_greener.shtml
As standard if the BT phone line is ceased then the broadband would in turn be ceased and there would therefore be a £30 cessation fee applicable as well as any extra charges to terminate the contract early.
Cessation fee explained here: http://www.plus.net/support/customer_service/billing/cessation_charges.shtml
