BBC iPlayer

For some reason BBC iPlayer has stopped working on my laptop.

I can get as far as finding a programme but when pressing play nothing happens and yes, I am registered and I have signed in.

Works fine on my television and on my kindle so now I'm wondering if there is some sort of conflict somewhere - although it's been fine up until now. There is no deinstall/reinstall facility that I can see as that usually sorts things out.

Any ideas guys? (Scratches head)

Re: BBC iPlayer

Do you have the correct version installed?

Bear in mind the latest version currently does not allow you to change where downloads are stored.

Re: BBC iPlayer

There is no install for the watching on-line version, only for the download and watch later.

Re: BBC iPlayer

Really?

Thanks will check that out and why perhaps I cannot find it in a downloaded file in order to uninstall and reinstall.

Cheers.

Re: BBC iPlayer

Try get_iplayer for downloads - this works for me.

Apparently there is also a Windows version.

You also get a (kind of) PVR with it.

Yep. Been using it for years.

It's cross platform, with versions for Linux, Windows and Mac

.

There's also a  fork called Get iPlayer Automator that has a GUI for Mac users who aren't comfortable with CLI

Re: BBC iPlayer

Linux also optionally provides a GUI Grin which is just a web page generated locally that you can look at in a web browser.

Re: BBC iPlayer

Yeah for the 'web pvr',  so not really the same as the GUI provided by GIA

Re: BBC iPlayer

iPlayer (streaming) used to use Flash Player but now, by and large, doesn't.  Does visiting this page http://www.bbc.co.uk/html5 provide any clues?
