Avast/Internet Explorer

I have just put my laptop on the net.  I have installed Avast.  But when it is on I cannot get the page to display in Internet Explorer.  I did not have this problem before with my PC - any ideas?

What page? Or is it all pages? Are you connecting ok ie get emails etc
