Avast - 20 days left of subscription?

Anyone else ever had a message from Avast saying they've only got 20 days left of their subscription?
I thought it was free but obviously not!

Avast is free for home users, but you need to register once a year and obtain a new licence code.

It's quick and easy to re-register and get another licence code for the next 12 months. Just take care to navigate through to the free version!  The annual re-licence is just to confirm that you are still using it and using it only for private home use.  it also gives them a chance to try and tempt you into a paid for version once a year!
