Audio transfer Vinyl to mp3 help.

I have tried Audacity to transfer my vinyl LPs to Mp3, I found it easy to set up but cant find a 'scratch or click' remove filter. I don't think editing by 'cutting' out the clicks very satisfactory.
Can anyone suggest a suitable open source or freeware program that can do this transfer and remove the imperfections.

Re: Audio transfer Vinyl to mp3 help.

In Audacity 1.2.5 for Windows, the noise removal filters are found under the menu item "Effect" -- there's a long list, including one labelled "Click Removal"

Re: Audio transfer Vinyl to mp3 help.

Thank you for the help.  The new forum is certainly active.
I need to update my Audacity first  and will try the edit filters.
I understand the attachment to vinyl and also like the portability of mp3.  With  you help I hope to have both (without the scratches!)

Re: Audio transfer Vinyl to mp3 help.

If you have any CD's which have been transcribed from old records with professional scratch removal they still sound flat and lifeless. All the dynamics get obliterated.
You might as well just use a low-pass filter.

Re: Audio transfer Vinyl to mp3 help.

Thanks for all the info, have got the latest Audacity and found the filters.  Just need a bit of time to get the hang of it. Another learning curve!
