With 3 year Apple Care, "cost" over 3 years is only £1 day for the base model, and only £1.85 per day for the top spec.
Extra memory etc would add a few pence to the daily "cost" over 3 years.
Our current, and previous iMacs have a life well in excess of 3 years, (8 years+ for one !) with no problems.

Whilst waiting to decide which, if any, I have just ordered extra Memory for my current personal iMacs.
November 27 may be a good day to buy a new iMac.
Apple has previously cut prices on Black Friday

Well if they do I'll be buying myself a 13" Mac Book Pro. I have to admit I am now an avid fan of Apple never thought I'd say that!
