Annoying arrows

Every now and then I try to remove the ugly overlay short-cut arrows on desktop icons in Win 7.
A software routine exists to remove them that was designed for Win Vista, and I have used it successfully in a Win 7 that was upgraded over Win Vista. However, it doesn't work in straight original Win 7.
Anyone know of a Win 7 routine to achieve arrow-less icons?
Experience; is something you gain, just after you needed it most.

When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you. But because in that brief moment while the coin is in the air. You suddenly know what you are hoping for.

Re: Annoying arrows

This is the easiest one I could find for you,
http://www.blogsdna.com/2064/how-to-remove-windows-7-shortcut-extension-and-shortcut-arrow-icon.htm
The only icon I have on my desktop is the recycle bin so it doesn't affect me.
Edit :
I just read a few reviews and most people say this doesn't work.
