Re: Android VPN - DNS woes

No, I was hoping to avoid any 3rd party software but if it's got a better configuration than the MS offering and still works with android and other clients then I may go down that road.

Mind you.. now I have one mini system up and running and will soon be using that as my central gateway, AP, Wifi Point and web/ftp servers i might just stick with the MS offering as long as i can get the reply packets working.

I need a new signature... i'm bored of the old one!

Re: Android VPN - DNS woes

Fix

Okay, i've solved this and it was rather stupid in a way..

MS's VPN server DOES work and it WILL relay DNS packets in windows 7.

What I did was to use the IP address of the machines usual ethernet connection. You'd think that would be acceptable considering that both that and the VPN server's virtual connection still go out to the same internet and internal network.. but no!

Something just struck me randomly while talking to a friend on facebook about something totally unrelated... I changed the IP of my dns servers on my phone to the IP of the MS VPN server and boom... DNS lookups work perfectly.

Solved!

Now I can use my VPN properly!
