Alternative to Sagemcom 2704N

Hullo - having a few issues which may be due to delays and spikes from the Sagemcom 2704N, though still investigating.  So far the router has been OK but slow.

Has anyone found a good alternative router to connect to Plusnet fibre broadband.  Support for 

802.11ac Wi‑Fi wireless networking would be good and I have quite a large house so a fair amount of range also needed.

Any thoughts?

Thanks - I shall work through the list.  Probably staying with the BT Connect fibre broadband box and will only change the router itself.

If you want to narrow it down a little, I have long been a fan of the Asus routers (currently using 3) and are consistently highly reviewed.  The AC56U is probably a good starting point for your reading prior to purchase.

Interesting and thanks for the post.  My reading so far put Asus as a serious contender.  I am looking at the AC68U as well as the AC56U.

I have both of the previous models that those replaced and both have served me very well.

With regards to the higher models its a case of working out if the additional features they provide are going to be useful to you and therefore worth the extra investment.  The other thing worth noting is that the higher up the Asus food chain you go, typically the stronger the WiFi signal (usually because of external aerials) which may be a consideration if (like me) you have a house build not conducive to wireless range.

You may also be interested to know that well liked custom router ROMs DD-WRT and Tomato are both supported on a number of Asus routers which may also provide features you might be interested in.
