Add ons not showing anything, McAfee not available

I cannot find where to download the McAfee anti virus program.

I was told to go to

https://www.plus.net/McAfee/downloads.html

But the page is empty.

Apparently it's all set up for me but i can't find where to download the software.

Am I stupid?

Thanks

No - its a long-standing problem with Plusnet's web page.

1. Sign-on to Plusnet's web page - then don't sign-out,

2. Go to that Link you gave - https://www.plus.net/McAfee/downloads.html

You will get a message that says:-

You need to add Plusnet Protect to your account before you can download it.

To find out more and add it to your account, click Go to Add-Ons.

Actually, I wouldn't use Plusnet Protect or McAfee as neither has a good reputation.

Wait a bit and read any other comments...

That's the problem at 2. The page has the headers  but nothing else.  It's as if the page hasn't fully loaded.

What do others use if not McAfee.. I've used a few freebies in the past but I'm out of touch.?

Re: Add ons not showing anything, McAfee not available

What OS are you using? I'm still using W7 with Microsoft Security Essentials (which, I think, is called Windows Defender on later OSes). I also use Malwarebytes Free (don't forget to untick the Trial Version option when installing) and CCleaner (Free version). As long as these are regularly updated and run at least once a week I doubt you'll see many, if any, issues. I have been using these for 10 years.

McAfee does not come out well in real world antivirus tests. Personally I wouldn’t touch it. The best are Kaspersky, Bitdefender or Norton. Malwarebytes free is definitely recommended for the additional occasional check.

Re: Add ons not showing anything, McAfee not available

Struggling to install McAfee is like struggling to tie your own hands behind your back; there are much better alternatives.  I would recommend the free security software from Microsoft; it goes by different names depending on your version of Windows.  It's not too demanding on computer resources, trouble-free and it doesn't try to sell you add-ons or upgrades to the "professional" version.
