Yes it is but you have to renew your licence every year on their website (in other words supply them with an email address in exchange for a licence key).

I use Avira, Better than AVG or Avast put together, And yes It Is free to.

Thanks okrzynska.  At the end of the day I think all the free progs are possibly very similar.  As I've had no problems with AVG I will carry on using it and just upgrade to the latest version.

By choosing Custom install you can choose not to download the Yahoo Toolbar.

Been using it since the first post on here, about it,...... it updates daily, just the same,.... I had forgotten to switch on "scheduled scans".... so it hasn`t done a scan for three days,..... just done one now, and it completed saying nothing found.... so seems to be working ok.

The one thing I don't like about it is that on previous versions I chose to let the AVG warning show whenever I first used Outlook Express.  Now it never shows, my email just opens up.

All I get is:
Email scanner
Scanning emails
and this is after the emails have appeared in my Inbox.

Some emails contain the message telling me that AVG has checked the message but others do not.  Seems to have changed on a recent update.  I'm currently using 9.0.862

I put 2011 on the day it came out, already had a program update, now version 10.0.1144, it was 10.0.1136 on the 20th
