AVG 9 FREE

Downloaded AVG9 free yesterday; ran a full HDD check this morning and found that it appears to be 3 times as fast as its predecessor ! Anyone else noticed this effect?

it does a configure scan when you first install it and then doesnt check those on a full scan - I think, hadnt noticed it

Looked at scan settings - it had defaulted to "selected files" scan rather than "all" - suspect it will be back to normal tomorrow ....Oh well!!!

I was a reasonably happy AVG 8.5 user.
I upgraded to AVG 9.
Within a week I'd found too many problems (stopped pages loading completely on these forums, slowed the whole PC down).
I'm now giving COMODO a go.

I also use AVG9 but have recently received pop-ups notifying me of a later version, but at a price. Is this a way of telling me that the free edition will no longer be available?

And of course if I’d bothered to read the link from the pop-up correctly I would have known that AVG9 is free 
All now fully installed and working well, with no apparent loss in performance. As a caveat though I don’t use any flash, techy, intensive processes
