What you need is....
Hard Wire "twisted pair"... not the flexible phone line extension type.
You will have to measure the distance and order sufficient plus a bit more if you think you may need it.
You will also need a Wall Socket for your connection to your router
The twisted pair consists of from 4 to 24 or more "twisted pairs" of hard wire ( copper in theory )
you need only ONE pair.....
the current Openreach wiring colour code with 2 twisted (CW1308 spec - loose twist) pairs (blue/orange and green/brown)
... ( they will be twisted together all along the cable .. so you know which one you are connecting
Open up the face plate that the engineer fixed.... attach the wires to connection 2 & 5 and do the same colours to the other end on the wall socket .. plug in the filter.... plug in the router and hopefully. you will be back online again.
Here is a link to a guide..... http://www.wppltd.demon.co.uk/WPP/Wiring/UK_telephone/uk_telephone.html
Socket .....https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUSTIN-TAYLOR-WALL-MOUNTED-TELEPHONE-SOCKETS/123538924680?hash=item1cc37e...
The above socket uses "push down" connections for the wiring... you "could" use a small screwdriver, but there is a special tool
Special "idc" tool..... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Telecom-BT-Telephone-RJ45-Lan-Network-IDC-Cable-Insertion-Punch-Down-Tool...

I had a similar issue but a simpler solution: connect the filter to a long Cat6 ethernet cable and run the cable to to a low cost hub to which I connected all my devices.

@Carriewim Welcome to the forums. What you need is something like this. This will allow you to extend the connection from the phone socket to allow you to connect the router in your lounge.

Thank you for your detailed reply but I am hoping Openreach will come back after the lockdown ends and do exactly what you explain in your post to move the socket to the lounge.

@Carriewim - They should, in theory, but if I were you I'd remind them that it needs doing, as when things get back to 'normal' they will be quite busy and small jobs like this could easily slip off their radar.
