A ndroid - Deleting/uninstalling apps not required .

OK... so I know how to delete the "short cut" from the desktop... but how do I uninstall, no longer needed apps?  can`t find anything on the Apps screen (where they are all listed).. nor can I find them listed with the file manager ...

Settings > apps >  tap on the app you want to remove and you will see the uninstall option, or play store > my apps, and uninstall from there

or if on a more recent version of android you can long press the app in the apps screen and that will give the option to delete it.
