I use a Netgear DG834G
I have just upgraded the firmware from 4.01.20 to 4.01.30
My download speed has moved from 5mb to 6.5mb.
A very worthy 6 minutes I think
Then again it's probably a coincidence....being the cynic that I am

Just the router reboot may have caused this and at the time your SNR was higher.
They could have impoived the ADSL firmware but that is unlikely as the router has been out for some time.
