82579V Intel ethernet driver

I don't know if this belongs here, if not could one of the mods kindly move to the correct forum, thanks.
I built a new computer and I am having trouble with gaming, I thought it was moving to unlimited, then I thought it was the game, now I am leaning towards the intel ethernet drivers 82579v.
I have just found this......
"I can confirm that many Intel 82579 series NICs (including 82579V and 82579LM) have a hardware fault at 100Mbps that results in packet loss"

I have opened the properties on my ethernet driver and am dumbfounded with all the settings, like jumbo packets, Gigabit master/ slave mode, interupt moderation, large send offload V2 (IPv4) large send offload (IPv6) . Then when I go into one of these there is another 4 or 5 settings. So I am wondering if these settings will affect my broadband / gaming if they are not set up properly (different from default).
Thanks for reading.

Moved to Windows board as that is perhaps the best place for it

Re: 82579V Intel ethernet driver

There does seem to be a lot of people experiencing problems with that particular device  -  see  http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/search.html?keyword=82579V.
Although nearly all of them are reports before the latest driver was released (as mentioned in my previous posting).
Hopefully the new driver will work, but if not there are a lot of suggestions for work-arounds in those Intel forums.

Thanks Purliegh,
I have downloaded and installed the drivers from the site, version 18 date 1/11/2013 for Win 7, but when I go into properties for the ethernet driver it still shows Driver version 12.2.45.0 Driver date 10/08/12.

The download is a big collection of drivers for all Intel network controllers - the version 18 and the more recent date refer to the whole collection. It contains 12.2.45.0 / 10 Aug 2012 for 82579V.

Re: 82579V Intel ethernet driver

So it looks like the ethernet drivers I downloaded from the Asus website a few weeks back for my motherboard are the latest ones then. This has me stumped, I guess the only thing to do is fire up my old computer and put BF3 back on and see how it goes, if it is the same then it is the game, if it is playable, then it is something to do with my new build.

Have you thought of trying something like this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B003VSTDFG?gclid=CLKTg5ubvLUCFUMYzQodWAcAgA ?
Maybe not the ideal solution but can be quite a handy device to have around in case of any NIC issues (I think some of these even work on tablets with USB OTG ports).

Re: 82579V Intel ethernet driver

Thanks for all your advice on my problem but I have hopefully fixed it, on the board there is a jumper for liquid nitrogen cooling, also a toggle switch for slow mode which should be ON if using LN2. The motherboard manual says this slow mode switch is OFF by default, so I never bothered with it. After posting on the Asus ROG forum I had a look yesterday and it was set to ON. I have now turned it OFF and everything seems lightning quick. Even playing BF3 is a joy again.
Thanks again.

@ReedRichards, Pretty full on stuff, can't see myself ever going down that route. Maybe if I win the lottery and I have some money to burn.
Great video Purliegh, I think I would have been wearing protection on my hands, wouldn't like to see one of my fingers snapped off like a twix.
