5G mast

For an unknown reason a big 5G mast is being erected at the end of our road, about 250 yds away. 
Anyone know if this is a serious competitor to FTTC ? Cabinet is about 400 yds away.

Could the mast be intended for mobile devices? I suppose as the technology evolves, it could be used in place of, or alongside, FTTC/FTTP.

5G in performance terms can be used instead of fttc/fttp/adsl.
It remains to be seen how much it will really cost per month.
