Anybody know where I can get a 5.2 Ghz WiFi Antenna from in the UK. I've looked on RS etc and can't find any, why is this? I've seen a funky video of how to make one, but I would still have to buy gear or at least butcher a brand new 2.4 Ghz antenna.
I'll be using this on ch 36/40 5180 Mhz and 5200 Mhz
Fixed! Go to the fix.

A quick search on eBay came up with this dual-band antenna - I can't say whether or not it's any good though. There may well be others on offer - I searched for '5 Ghz antenna'.

I'm using a dual band antenna at the moment, but thanks very much for the link.
I want to use seperate antennas for my router but single band 5.2 Ghz to 5.8Ghz WiFi Aerials seem to be hard to come by.

I suspect most router antennae are dual-band, as every 5 GHz router I am aware of also broadcasts on 2.4 GHz. You may find a specialised 5 Ghz antenna, but one with the correct type of fitting may be the problem - good luck anyway.
EDIT - how about this one?

I think routers often use internal antennae for one band and external for the other.
A client device may well use the same antennae for either band, but it will only be connecting to one band or the other, not both at once.

I do have another question though! will using these alter the frequency of the antenna/antennas ?

Are you planning to attach the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz antenna to the same connector?
What router do you have? You should really check if the external antennae are for one band, and internal antennae are used for the other.

I tend not to bother to watch stuff in video format which could easily have been expressed in a few words. So I guess I'll never know.
Lots of modern routers apparently do use external dual-band antennae, I was thinking of older ones with internal and external for different bands.

The Video says that a WDR3600 uses A dual band antenna which is kind of not the best thing, So at that the guy breaks out a drill and soldering iron and adds 2 new fly leads and sma sockets to the back of said WDR3600 router, attaches 2x 2,4 Ghz antennas and 2x 5 Ghz and proceeds to show before and after tests which show a marked improvement on 5 ghz band and a small improvement on 2.4ghz band.
My question is, will using adapters to achieve the same thing cause the wave length of the antennas to be altered ?
I don't see why it should if the fly lead size the guy mentions as doesn't matter how long/short they are.
Hope that clears things up a tad for you.
Sorry expressing myself though the written word isn't one of my strong points.
