4OD - not working in Mint 15

Hi all
i can not get 4oD to work, had a quick Google seems like a few people have or had this problem.
it looks as though it will play the stream ( get the image in the background of the program) , then the white circle keeps on going round.
tried  GC,FF and Opera
any ideas?

I beleive they'd changed the encoding of the 4oD stream, which is why it no longer works on XBMC.  May be the same problem?

Does installing the incredibly obsolete hal fix it?

I'd never used 4OD before, but trying it now (Arch Linux) hal is indeed the difference between it working and not working.

Same issue in Mint 14, never used 4OD so never saw the problem before. Or used flash that much.
