162 new BBC DAB Radio transmitters between now and Christmas 2015.

The BBC has announced today a two-year plan to bring national BBC DAB to 2 million more people - to bring BBC national DAB coverage to above 97%.

As mentioned before, I live in a virtual deadspot for DAB & FM Radio.

And yes, one of the new DAB Radio transmitters is coming to my very local TV Transmitter !!

A most welcome addition.

Having placed the contract for the services with transmission company Arqiva earlier in the summer, we're now able to confirm that we will be building a further 162 digital radio transmitters over the next two years.
That's three a fortnight on average, every fortnight, between now and Christmas 2015.

Looks like just National Networks only, not enabling local radio transmissions however, a pity they are not providing this..... yet..

How ironic, I too live in a DAB deadspot.  Cry
2 new transmitters are due in nearby towns, but we're outside the coverage of both.
And to really put the icing on top, Arqiva, who are implementing this, have a major site barely a mile away.  Crazy

At home, our DAB reception is fine with a roof aerial but absolutely useless (both national BBC and local) with the telescopic aerial built into the receiver. Nice to see that there should be some improvement here.
At work, DAB is great; far better than FM, although susceptible to interference from vehicles (whereas FM is just constant static).

What's wrong with VHF?

I think you mean AM.
DAB is also horribly noisy.
FM is extremely resistant to noise.
