I am sick to death of these annoying phone calls, if it isnt PPI, then its a call that hangs up when you answer. These lowlife scum need to be dealt with. I have my BB and phone through PN (Free-online). I am ex directory, so who is getting the back handers by suppling our phone numbers to these sharks ????

I think these 'complete and utter baskets' often use random dialing to find potential customers victims.
Doubt very much if its PN (in fact almost 100% certain it isn't).

There is no need to re-register with the TPS, however please note the following points.
http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/contactfaq.php
The following statement applies to the types of calls it stops, though some of the later elements are a given.
On the point of "Do I need to renew my registration with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)"
As such, removal from the list may occur if your existing supplier classifies your transfer as making the line inactive.
Personally, I check my my number once a quarter to ensure it is still registered, which avoids me needing to re-register periodically like I did all those years ago.
You can do this yourself: http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/registered.php

The following statement applies to the types of calls it stops, though some of the later elements are a given.
Quote Recorded and automated sales calls including silent calls do not fall within the remit of TPS. TPS does not stop other call types such as market research, debt collection, scam calls and general nuisance calls.
On the point of "Do I need to renew my registration with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS)"
Quote If you have registered a residential number or a number belonging to a sole trader or (except in Scotland) partnership, you do not need to renew. However, if you have registered a number on to the Corporate TPS belonging to a Limited company, Plc or other large organisation, you are required to renew annually. In this case TPS will send you an e-mail each year to notify you of this. Failure to renew will result in your number(s) being removed from the CTPS data file. Please be aware that if you change your telephone package, obtained broadband or change telephone line service provider for example, we may receive notice from your current/old line service provider that your line has been made inactive. In this case your number would be removed from the file as the service is only intended for live numbers.
As such, removal from the list may occur if your existing supplier classifies your transfer as making the line inactive.
