Spare Remote

My sofa just ate my remote !

I've seen a few online, and I've come to realise they might not all work, can anyone please tell me where I can purchase an extra remote? Thanks.

Re: Spare Remote

Haha, hungry sofa 😀

I belive the pn box is just a standard youview box, so any from ebya should work fine.

Re: Spare Remote

A lot of the remotes sold retail are replacements and do not offer the full range of functions that the originals offered. the most often lost feature is the ability to retune the tv, which in time would render the tv useless.

Take the model number and make of tv from the label on the back and search on Ebay and Amazon for a remote for that model. You should get a number of options to select from. Make sure that you are being offered a genuine and direct replacement.

I recently did this for my Toshiba tv and have a perfect double for the original. I needed to replace because the original was not operating correctly, I have since repaired it.

My wife, management, is still puzzled when she says shall we watch a particular programme and I can put it on while she it talking. I think she now believes we have a voice activated tv.

Good luck in your search

Re: Spare Remote

I may have missed the point. If it is for your Youview box then ask Plusnet for a replacement or failing that contact Humax direct with the model number.

Re: Spare Remote

Lots of old Sky remotes out there which can be coded up to work with almost any television.

Re: Spare Remote

If you mean the standard Humax YouView remote then you will find them on eBay: YouView Remote Control for Humax DTR-T1000/DTR-T1010/DTR-T2000 for around £15.

If you mean the BT version of the remote (I'm not sure which Plusnet supply as I haven't taken the service yet), then eBay again: BT YouView+ Remote Control Unit for around £18.

You can usually pick up either flavour remote on Amazon if you prefer for about the same price. Worth doing a search though as you may find cheaper and you will certainly find more expensive listings as well.

If it's the remote for your TV then you are on your own! Grin

Re: Spare Remote

I think it's worth getting a spare remote for your tv as soon as you get it so a fully functioning model will be available, which may not alway be the case years later.

Mine cost £10 plus P& P.

So swmbo has one and I have the other....saves me having to move a few feet if she is asleep.

Re: Spare Remote

Also worth noting that most of the universal remotes these days will work at least the basic functions of nearly every TV out there. If you need specialised, obscure, or advanced functions, the more expensive remotes (e.g. Logitech Harmony) will cover every function of your devices (even obscure functions). I'm not saying this is necessarily a better route than just buying the correct remote, but if you want to combine several remotes, or you can't find your manufacturer's remote anymore, then it is a good solution.

As for the YouView remote, I have both a BT branded one, and a Plusnet supplied Youview branded one. Both work exactly the same.

Re: Spare Remote

I have an app on my phone which can be configured for operating multiple devices.

One of the devices is my Samsung TV.

Unfortunately the large screen TV installed at a pub/restaurant we visited in December was a Samsung.

Re: Spare Remote

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I'll go through all the options. I just realised I didn't make it clear that it was the Youview remote that got 'lost'.
