Hi.. Anyone know the VLAN tags that are needed to enable Plusnet TV using the Nighthawk router? Router supports multicast but i cant find the settings anywhere to get this working..

Did you get this working? I have the D7000 and cannot get this up and running at all!

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

I havn't managed it yet. I have tried everything I can think of - Enabling IGMP proxy, enabling bridging and enabling VLANs to ports 10, 101, 301 - any combination i can think of.
I have contacted netgear support who say the R7000 can do this via Vlans and that plusnet can give the details, but plusnet didnt know what I was talking about and had never heard of vlans.
Whenever I setup a vlan on the netgear, it drops the internet connection.
Am going to keep trying various things though till I get this working

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

The D7000 doesn't even have the options that you are describing and Netgear support have been useless - I cannot get to speak to any UK based support who would understand what a youview box is etc.  Keep me posted as I want to replace my ASUS router.

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

Is this any use?
http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29326/~/how-to-do-vlan-tagging-iptv-setup-for-d7000%3F
It shows that you should be able to add vlans to the D7000.
Apparently the VLAN id for BT is 101 - i imagne its the same for plusnet, but doesnt work for me

Yeh tried that - doesn't work - try these forums threads for yourself (you may have to register).

Let me know if you have any luck - I suspect our routers are more or less the same - do you have an option to allow/disallow IGMP?

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

Can someone from plusnet confirm what the VLAN ID should be and the priority for IPTV - I suspect it is 101 and 0.
Rick.

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

Thanks.. had a look through those.. nothing solid to go on for the r7000..
I do have a tick box for IGMP proxy but it doesn't appear to do anything useful.
I will keep on looking

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

In the R7000 it is under 'Advanced',' Setup', 'WAN settings'
There is about 7 tickboxes there and one is called 'disable IGMP proxy'. It was ticked by default.
From what i can see the D7000 doesn't have the setting..

I'm almost ready to chuck mine out of the window. I've hooked up the asus router atm but will check over the weekend.

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

It looks like Netgear have just upgraded the firmware of the D6400 to allow it to do IPTV easily. I would guess that the D7000 will follow shortly. Hopefully mine too!

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

Fingers crossed. I've ended up keeping the D7000 in anticipation that they would upgrade the firmware. Netgear c/s are useless!
Keep me posted and I will do the same.

Re: Plusnet TV with Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router

No, but i am going to try an output of the pn router using the command 'http://192.168.1.254/dumpcfgdynamic.cmd ' which i was reading about earlier and see if i can find any entries there which could help me.
Failing that, I am going to have the use the PN router and daiseychain the nighthawk to it to act as an access point, until hopefully a firmware will be released that will allow the netgear to do it itself.
Did you have any joy with the D7000?
