Good start so far

Ordered PN TV on Friday at 10.00 with powerline adaptors and they arrived at 9.00am.  Just waiting the new router now.

Re: Good start so far

Ah a slight technical hic-up the powerline adaptor only has one 1 ethernet port, I didn't realise that, I need one for the TV and want one for my laptop.
Can you buy singles I can only find the Flex 500 in Kits of 2.

Re: Good start so far

you could use a switch like this: http://www.dabs.com/products/netgear-gs105-5-port-gigabit-switch----2X1X.html?refs=50542&src=2
I've used Netgear switches on powerlines and they have worked fine.
Good luck!

Re: Good start so far

Could you explain how these work please? I can't seem to find the info when reading about them. I assume the switch plugs into the powerline?
Alternatively could I buy another set of the 500 flex adaptors which would also give me a spare?

Re: Good start so far

You will probably need to buy an additional ethernet cable to connect it to the powerline adapter near your TV.  Essentially, think of it like a 4-gang extension lead for your products.
You plug it into the powerline adapter near your TV then connect the various devices to it.
I gave up with powerline adapters for my pn tv and opted for a wired solution.

Re: Good start so far

At the moment I use a Devolo with 4 ports [Only use 2] had it a few years but it keeps losing wifi when I use my tablet and I have to keep resetting it. It may just be easier to ask PN if I can send the BT powerlines back and buy a multiport one.

Yeh - give them a call.
I tried these ones: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00X59GJGC?keywords=tp%20link%20powerline&qid=1439883120&ref_=sr_... but found the wired solution better.

Re: Good start so far

Just spoken to customer services they won't accept them back!  Angry
So anyone buying them be aware that they are only single port, as I wasn't.
Perhaps I should change the title to 'Not so Good start so far'!

All is not lost  Wink
I mix and match I have some solwise 500 and TP Link 200 units as well as the unit I posted earlier. They all work happily together. So I have the desktop in the attic, the smart telley in the spare room as well as the media centre in the lounge all connected up on powerline adapters.  Cool
I'm sure you'll find a use for them  Grin

Re: Good start so far

Yeah I'll try them first with the TV on ethernet and laptop/tablet on wifi.
I game and find I keep getting 'slow connection' on wifi but these may be better, other wise I'll buy a switch. I take it from a post above any make can be used?
Thanks all for your replies.
