Freeview box playing up

I see Wisty started a thread about a dodgy freeview box; this may be similar but didn't want to derail that thread.

My freeview box has started to hang, screen going black for a minute or so at a time.  I don't watch much tv but this weekend it's happened about 6+ times over the weekend.  It first happened on 16th I think and when I looked, it checked for new firmware on that date.

I've powered off etc. But still problems.

the box I have is from the trial that I participated in; when I signed up I said that I was happy with the box that I had so I didn't receive a new box when I signed up.

Any suggestions about what I can do?

thanks

Re: Freeview box playing up

Does the screen go black - no break up of audio or video before or after the glitch? Mine's started doing it - a few seconds at a time but its happening 3 or 4 times every couple of minutes

Re: Freeview box playing up

Yes exactly.

i can't watch previously recorded TV either.  I thought it was a failed hard disk but I'm not sure why that would cause freezing?

reported it on Friday night - someone from PlusNet (Ben?) phoning me on Monday morning.

Re: Freeview box playing up

It doesn't seem to do it on Freeview channels on my box - just the IPTV

I also seem to have rather bad packet loss:

I am sorry to hear about your issues @SteveA and @Amadeus

Are you still experiencing the same issues with your TV services?

Re: Freeview box playing up

yes - breaking up regularly again to the point that IPTV channels aren't really watchable.

So now I have three problems :

1) loss of output : total silence and a blank screen

2) Screen freezes with no audio (no image break up before or after - its almost like its on pause)

3) Pixellation and audio break up.

Sometimes I get IPC6023

I've also got random speed problems and dropped packets (  https://community.plus.net/t5/Fibre-Broadband/Slowest-speed-ever-I-ve-ever-had/td-p/1392836 _
