tampered BB speed - keeping track

AS the previous thread has been locked
Would a member of the plusnet staff look into
1)is my BB speed now fixed?
2)If I pay the full amount should I receive the full amount?
3)Am I entitled to any refund if not ?

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

Giro,
1)is my BB speed now fixed?
Fixed to what? The product is rate adaptive and therefore the speed may vary. I've also asked if you can raise a fault for us to investigate any issues your having. We need the answers to some required questions before we can investigate any potential fault.
2)If I pay the full amount should I receive the full amount?
You receive the full amount of usage on your account each month, as per my replies in the previous thread on this we don't sell products based on the speed as they are 'up to' speeds and not definitive minimums.
3)Am I entitled to any refund if not ?
See my reply to 2.
The title of your thread makes it sound as though someone has deliberately limited your speed, this is not the case. ADSL is rate adaptive and will allow for the fastest speed based on your line conditions, including noise, interference and the distance from the exchange.

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

studying your reply
then I cant know if its been fixed or not

you will have to write to me  at my home address
as my usage allowance is on ~10GB for this period
and I'm canceling my DD this month until plusnet clarify further
and provide evidence of what has been happening to my speeds

Giro, I'm not sure how else to say this but the ADSL service you are on is rate adaptive, that means that speed changes can and will happen. Nothing has been tampered with and without the result of the tests I've request over the last few replies to you there is nothing else we can do. Cancelling your direct debit will simply mean your account goes into failed billing.

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

I'm not prepared to accept that I should pay for an unknown provision
from anyone
now being unable to say what service i should and should not receive
if it should enter failed billing, I'll ask for judgment in my nearest City here
on the matter

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

So what you're saying is that you refuse to pay for a service "up to 8Mb" or whatever, simply because you don't know just how much of that 8Mb you're actually going to get?
Welcome to the world of UK broadband.
I'd like to see a bit more of a variation, though. When you sign up to most ISP's they give you a (pretty accurate) estimate of what speeds you can expect, so I wonder why I pay as much for a line with a speed of 1Mb as someone with a line speed of 8Mb, or even 20Mb. It would seem fairer if prices were slightly more 'banded', so that  people who get less than 5Mb pay a certain amount, while people between 5Mb and 10Mb pay a bit more, and people over 10 pay a bit more still.
Then again, I'm biased because we get less than 1Mb. Tongue

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

giro,
I think you are on a absolute loser here. You are getting faster speeds than many people who are paying exactly the same as you.
What you pay for is a connection and a transfer allowance - not a speed.
If you really pushed I think the best you would get out of Plusnet in the way of a guaranteed speed is that your IP profile will not drop below 135kbps!

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

hi dom
just been reading through what you just said
I think the context  there is 'NORMAL SPEEDS'
well speaking in my own case they have been 1/3 rd down(1MB)  from just over 3MB to 2MB for  a month
only plusnet are not offering if they agree or  a reason as to why its happened
in these circumstances   I'm reasonably entitled to assume

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

but plusnet are unwilling to clarify of why or if my speed was reduced for a month, i'm left with apathy
but as my speed reduction came about around(same day i think) the time plusnet restricted my internet access
because I stopped a DD
and because of  it
I believe I'm entitled to assume

Re: tampered BB speed - keeping track

I've been watching the reports of problems on these forums regarding ADSL faults and speeds for a number of years. Every year as the days get shorter and the weather gets colder and wetter, we see more reports of speed problems and faults.
ADSL is a technology that was designed to get the most out of the pieces of wet string between us and the exchange that were never designed to carry digital signals. The fact that so may people sync way below the 8MB maximum (and practically nobody syncs at the maximum on ADSL2+) shows that it is really pushing the technology to the utter limit (certainly the limit of BT's capabilities). If conditions change on a line that is finely balanced (e.g. damp getting in to the joints or increased interference during the longer hours of darkness) you are bound to see a degradation in the service.
Unless a specific fault occurs that kills or very significantly reduces the connection (below the failure threshold) you just have to accept that variations can occur.

We haven't done anything to your speed, in fact nobody else has looked at your account recently apart from me.
