this is not a problem its just an irritation. Could you please please tell me why despite the pro add on, I am still getting this response from bbc iplayer.
line speed 6.2mb    streaming speed  3.6mb
Last nigh i phoned tech support and was told to try the iplayer after midnight., so grumpy old me got out of bed at 2.30am and tried the iplayer test.  exactly same result        line speed 6.2 streaming  speed 3.58 
i am under the delusion perhaps that streaming sped should equal line speed.please correct me if i am wrong. If i am correct please fix the situation.
i have faith in you guys.

For info, this is what the iplayer test gave for my connection:
Download Speed: 31264 kbps
Streaming Speed: 17875 kbps

my gripe is not with plusnet directly, its with the bbc iplayer idiots.  For nearly three years the iplayer has not displayed subtitles and despite over 45785 people complaining the great and noble bbc  have basically ignored us.
They dont respond to emails and their iplayer forums are full of complaints about no subtitles for deaf people.
Now those kind people at the former RNID gave me a software prog which translates speech to text but the program needs a far higher bandwith (is that the correct expression?) and does not always work correctly.
Anyway on behalf of the deaf community and with som ehelp from my "friends" legal action is about to start against the bbc under sec 3/26 of the Equality act.
I am hoping  (dream on  dream on?) that pn senior management might have a quiet word with the bbc idiots and tell them that their customers are being denied access to iplayer. I strongly believe in the clout that PN has and I hope they can kick the backsides of the bbc iplayer pople.
Tech support suggested i mention this here. If there are any other deaf people on Pn who wish to join the legal action against bbc  please  pm me.

Streaming speed can be close to download speed. I have the Pro add-on.

stop me oldjim if im wandering but im not really gripping about Pn  more the bbc iplayer.
Im fed up contacting bbc ......so are over 45000 people.
I tried ofcome who said its a disability issue.........the EHRC said its a broadcasting issue and so the swings go round and round.
Fortunately the  hearingloss people  (  former rnid) took notice and have persuaded the EHRC to start some soert of legal action against bbc
thank you all for your support. i must repeat at the request of the EHRC, if any others want to join the action pm please.

You need to confirm it is nothing at your end first.
Can you post the full results from the iPlayer diagnostic please. As a comparison could you post the result from a test from http://www.mybroadbandspeed.co.uk/
Are you connected to the router wired or wireless? If it is wireless can you repeat the speed test wired.
One other thing I can think of: can you confirm that the MTU on the router is the same or larger than the MTU on your PC.

Hi thisoldman,
As per Barry's reply to you in the thread in chit chat, the issue with streaming video is caused by something at your premises. The account is set up fine along with the pro add on and there's nothing on our side showing as incorrect.
Incidentally, who are colin and moses (assuming you don't mean the gentleman who parted the red sea)?

matt  excuse my state of confusion and frustration with this prob  colin was some guy on tech support and moses was recommende by my pastor lol

there is no equiptment in my home except the netbook and the text relay screen phone all working fine.
im really sorrry to go on and on about this but its driving me nutssssssssssssss.lol
