Why did this company want to set a cookie

This page http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/broadband-connection-settings.shtml#fibreConnectionSe...
I used the save page as option so that it is at hand if I have problems connecting my fibre router - no I don't have fibre but it may be available in several months and I wanted to be ready

Re: Why did this company want to set a cookie

OJ,
I tried browsing to elitechnology.com and arrived at http://www.selfservicecompany.com/ "Your Guide to a Successful Customer Journey" - I wonder if it is a bit of call-home detritus from the (new ?) customer journey tools we have heard hints of?

I've got a feeling this is from Ask Jess on the website. I'll need to find out and get back to you.

Re: Why did this company want to set a cookie

Can anyone remember consenting to the Plusnet site storing cookies?
Edit:
www.plus.net asks permission, portal.plus.net doesn't!

Re: Why did this company want to set a cookie

both but I don't remember why
Just checked
Going from the main site to Help and Support and then My Questions takes me to https://www.plus.net/wizard/?p=search which is different to the portal where it is https://portal.plus.net/my.html?action=myconnection

Re: Why did this company want to set a cookie

I've just tried deleting ALL cookies then going direct to portal - it didn't ask about cookies.

Re: Why did this company want to set a cookie

including the portal ones - of course I assumed that you removed the permission to set cookies (I use Firefox where it is easy)

Re: Why did this company want to set a cookie

When I said all cookies I meant ALL cookies, not just Plusnet ones.
