Where can I see a list of sites being blocked by PN?

Where can I see the list of sites being blocked by PN and the reason the site is blocked? TIA.

There is no such list.
PlusNet don't block websites themselves but may be guided by the Internet Watch Foundation list (which is not available for public viewing as far as I am aware).

michaelrmgreen,
Yes as Peter mentions we comply with IWF with regards to blocking sites. Do you have a specific concern you wanted us to address?

Re: Where can I see a list of site being blocked by PN?

A link I clicked on from a site I look at regularly didn't open. I posted a reply that the site was down. Other posters said they could see the link. I used the proxying effect of Opera Turbo and could see the site.
I was curious about the reason it was blocked. The site does carry 'gentlemens entertainment' (pr0n), but that doesn't seem to be a problem for PN usually, as far as I know.
It would be useful if PN redirected blocked sites to a message saying it was blocked, and why, rather than just have users think it's down. A message such as 'Stop looking at porn and get back to work' would be ideal.

You could try switching your DNS to a 3rd party as it may have been a DNS blip, not being blocked at all.

I'll pass on your feedback about that michaelrmgreen,
re Adie's response try 8.8.8.8 which is google's DNS if you need an alternative.

@adiewoo - No, I checked that using one of those URL->IP sites (dot quad AND numeric). It was being blocked.

Re: Where can I see a list of sites being blocked by PN?

Hi,
Is this still the case?
We had a minor issue across a small range of IPs earlier, which has now been resolved.
I won't ask you to share the link Smiley

Re: Where can I see a list of sites being blocked by PN?

The IWF doesn't block adult entertainment, it blocks content which is illegal in the UK, mainly images of child abuse so I very much doubt that the site you were visiting is being blocked by the IWF, the problem you are having is going to be related to something totally different.  Switching DNS to googles or opendns would let you know if it is a DNS issue which it could be if umm "is it down for me or everyone" or whatever it is called can view the website.

Re: Where can I see a list of sites being blocked by PN?

As I'm at work I won't be sharing or going to sleazy sites, however I can tell you that I have viewed the link, using the workaround  I outlined above, and it definitely wasn't within the areas outline on the IWF web site.
I have to say, there's definitely a touch of pitchforks and torches about the IWF. I bet they all wear those pointed black hats and heat their offices with burning witches.

Re: Where can I see a list of sites being blocked by PN?

The way that the IWF works it could have been due to another website on the same server sharing the same IP address.

So does PlusNet have a response to this alleged UK Govt. proposal to block _all_ adult pr0n by default ?

This is barking mad, isn't it ?
