Re: What's going on with PN?

Hi Chandu
I have tried Sky Broadband support. I agrre - it's an Indian call centre and they keep asking you to hold whilst they check a manual! However, still better than the service I have receoved from Plusnet over the past five years, which says it all if they couldn't resolve the problem in that time. So please don't ask me to stop expressing my experiences with Plusnet, thank you.

Hi Sea138,
Everyone to their opinions.  My experience with Plusnet is totally opposite to yours.

Re: What's going on with PN?

Hi Adam,
Experienced a lot of disconnections over the weekend.  Filtered NTE5 face plate, no extensions connected.  Please check the account.  Both down and Up stream dropped.  Sad

Chandu.

Hi Chandu,
Sorry to hear that, let's get this nipped in the bud. I've sent you an update on the ticket as I believe it to be a good idea to arrange an engineer visit.

Re: What's going on with PN?

@Adam Walker,
Sorry Adam,  ADSL Engineer's visit today between 08:00 and 13:00 was arranged.  I have been waiting since 08:00.  No sign of Engineer.  Contacted Support Team by phone.  Advised to hang on for another hour.  The time now is 13:55 and still waiting.  Please check the Ticket.
The support team was supposed to investigate about Engineer's where abouts and call me back.  Still waiting.
Hope something can be done about missed appointments.
Await your feedback.

Re: What's going on with PN?

I just wanted to follow the last post to say that I believe you spoke to a colleague of mine on the faults team yesterday who explain what happened with the missed engineer visit...

Re: What's going on with PN?

Hi Guys,
Open Reach (OR) Boost Engineer failed to turn up on Monday, 6th June.  Rescheduled for this morning (9th June) between 8am and 1pm.  No sign of the engineer.  By the way I was contacted by OR yesterday to confirm if Boost Engineer's visit was sill suitable.
Contacted BB Help Line at PN @ 13:15.  At 13:30, I received call back from BB Help Line with re-arranged visit to this afternoon and I was told that the engineer will be here any moment now.  Time now is 15:00.  Still waiting and counting hours and minutes of wasted time.  This is now getting beyond a joke.  Angry
I know this is NOT Pn's fault, but I am sure PN can do something about this kind of time wasting.
I thought I just update you all.
regards,
Chandu.

Re: What's going on with PN?

Hi Chandu,
My colleague from the faults team has been to have a chat with me about this. I am very sorry indeed to hear about this happening again.
I'm confident that my colleague has handled this correctly and has done some good work to make sure an engineer does visit this afternoon.
I'll keep an eye on this thread for you and sincerely hope that an engineer does reach you today.

Re: What's going on with PN?

Hi Guy,
UPDATE
The OR Boost Engineer did arrive after further rescheduling to late afternoon.  I offered him a cup of tea and biscuits and filled him in with the issues I had encountered.  Of course he did not have any of these details.  He had carried out checks from master socket.  During this test he did encounter a disconnect.  So, it proved that it was not my imagination!!!  Wink
As it was quite late in the evening he left the job as incomplete for a good night's rest.  Next morning (i.e. this morning) he had checked the D side with 63dB loading and then the E side with 63dB loading.  To no avail.  He then came back to my premises to ensure that the ADSL filtered plate was good and the crimp connections on the incomming line in the test socket were good.  He had carried out further test from the test socket and master socket.
The end result was he could not find the fault - e.g. coroded or HR joints.  So, he had to leave the job as UNRESOLVED and PN will be informed of this.  However, he has asked me to monitor the line for next 48 to 72 hours and report any drops to PN.  I do not thing I will have to do that as PN Fault Team will have the info in front of them.
Let us hope that inadvertently he has done something to stabilise the line.
So, there you have it.
Regards,
Chandu.

Re: What's going on with PN?

Hi Guys,
Latest update on monitoring my line as requested by BT OR Engineer
The BT OR Engineer had finished his investigation on Friday, 10th June as issue unresolved and asked me to monitor the line and inform my ISP if the fault occurs.  This I have done through my current ticket.
I have had 2 disconnections yesterday - 11th June - that I know of while using my phone.
I appreciate that this kind of fault is very, very difficult to find and may require a number of visits by SFI 2 Engineers, but in the mean time the DLM is playing havoc with my speeds (both up and down streams).
Apart from possible corroded joints (HR), I still think that there are some gremlins in the exchange equipement.  I am just wondering if PN can escalate this issue to a higher level; because now I am getting to end of my tether.
Now the question is how fast can PN get OR to get this issue sorted rather than prolonging the agony.
Regards,
Chandu.

Re: What's going on with PN?

Chandu,
We'll certainly do all we can to help here. Please bear in mind though that 2 disconnections over the period of a weekend should not either be a problem or anything that would affect DLM.
I'm going to recommend that we keep a close eye on your connection logs for the next day or 2 before we decide if we need to act or not. I'll take care of doing that personally.

Is this something the engineer hinted towards, how do you know this?
If this needs further investigations we'll make sure all the relevant possibilities are covered.
I'll check the connection logs again tomorrow before getting back to you.
Adam.

Re: What's going on with PN?

Thank you very much Adam.
Yes, he did mention to that effect (re: corroded/HR joints) and also he had said that if necessary he would give me different pair of copper.
He had NOT changed the pair and left it as it was but was desparately trying to locat the corroded/HR joint, without much joy.  Please check out my reply #101.
Regards,
Chandu.
