Re: What an excellent business plan!!

It's also faster than it's ever been (I think).
In fact it's about 15% faster than it was in the Master Socket IIRC, though that was with a rubbish filter...
Reconvene early next week. Cheesy

(and then I'll repeat my suggestions to fit a filtered faceplate and simplify the wiring)

I will try and look in Maplins for one whilst I am out and about.

Don't rush, you need to let things settle down for a while.

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

I really think that the miniscule differences in performance between the test socket and the normal location suggest that there is no point whatsoever in messing with the wiring or filtered faceplates to try & fix this problem.
I do think that the point has been reached where another known good router should be borrowed and tried and a DMT plot from that obtained.

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

Just an update for all, on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning we experienced intermittent power cuts which meant the router kept rebooting.
As I was going away I disconnected the router until I return on Sat/Sun. I do not know what effect this may have on the tests we have been carrying out or what results I will get when I reconnect again, any advice appreciated.

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

It might bounce the noise margin up a notch depending on the frequency of the power cuts

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

Good day to all, back on and running now since Sunday night. Latest info attached. I will monitor and see if we get a problem after 2.30 as before. Any advice from the experts appreciated please. Noise margin is now at 7.9 dropping since start up, but I do not know if that is a good sign or not since we had it at 12 last week when BT did something to the line.
The results from the BT speed test site are below.
Is there anyway we can get the speed increased?
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 4256 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 2500 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 2225 kbps

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

leave it running for another 2 or 3 days and if you don't have any more low speed syncs the IP profile will increase to 3500kbps

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

Hi Sunny,
I've just run a check against the BT systems to see if there have been any recent reports and unfortunately it hasn't been reporting properly.
But like Jim says, if you keep those speeds without any further drops, you should get an IP Profile of 3500Kbps in the next 2-3 days.

Does that mean the speed will increase?

NO!  Angry
The NOISE MARGIN has dropped but your speed is the same (please confirm that).
This means that noise (interference) has increased significantly.  Cry
Something nasty has just been turned on and is interfering with your signal.

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

Hi, as far as I can tell speed is the same, nothing in my property has been turned on at all.

Re: What an excellent business plan!!

It's also interesting that since your Noise Margin dropped you've had a few (minor) errors whereas there were none before.
