Very important Plusnet news - but not posted

Price increases and product changes as from 1st September

When you get round to posting it where are you going to put the discussion thread as there are at least three threads covering it at present

I hadn't realised it was in chat. I'll ask the friendly moderation team to move it to somewhere more relevant.

Re: Very important Plusnet news - but not posted

@Chris

Can you please clarify this statement (highlight in bold) from the price increase details

Product changes – 1st August 2016

The following product change will apply to some existing Unlimited Fibre customers from 1st August 2016 as set out below:-

  • We will be changing the speed of our fibre broadband service for existing customers who are on our Unlimited Fibre broadband service with download speeds of up to 38Mb† and upload speeds of up to 19Mb to an Unlimited Fibre broadband service with download speeds of up to 52Mb and upload speeds of up to 9.4Mb. Any affected existing Unlimited Fibre customers will receive an email to confirm this. Customers may see an improvement in download speeds and connection times.

Does this mean that those on the old 40/20 packages (as we call it) are moving to 52/9.4 or is there a missing decimal place and it should be 1.9?

That is correct, 9.4 Mbps.

Re: Very important Plusnet news - but not posted

Seems PN is potentially  downgrading peoples service then

If you was getting over 9.4Mbps on the upload, you will now be downgraded on upload (upgraded on download)

This is obviously a cost cutting exercise , as 40/20 was provisioned on 80/20 and PN will be paying less, to now provision these lines on 55/10

PN is 38/2 going to be replaced by 55/10 for new sign ups ?

Kind regards
Mike

Re: Very important Plusnet news - but not posted

@Anoush

Sorry but who's question were you answering?

My question is which current users are moving onto the 52/9.4Mbps package?

Is it

  1. All customers on the 40/20Mbps FTTC legacy package (FORTY/TWENTY) or
  2. All customers on the 40/2Mbps FTTC package (FORTY/TWO)

  (Note I've rounded the number to make it easy)

Re: Very important Plusnet news - but not posted

@Anoush

I thought that the question was more whether PlusNet really meant 19M (as actually in the text) or 1.9M.

In other words, are PlusNet moving the legacy 40/20 customers to 55/10, or are they moving the 40/2 customers to 55/10?

They are moving customers who are on 40/20 to 55/10 .
No one else is been moved .

That's going to go down well with those on 40/2, especially those recently moved on to it.

Re: Very important Plusnet news - but not posted

As soon as I read the Plusnet front page news and it sunk in (hoping that I had misread or Plusnet had made a mistake) then I thought "get the popcorn and comfy chair, it's going to get fun around here once the news is out"

And it does explain the "40/20" cleanup operation in the past few weeks too.
