Re: Updates To Your Service - Bah

Well yes that is a shame as I did not know about referrals but then they would have had their own contract obligations and even without them, I doubt they would have moved - better the devil you know and all that.

Regarding that extra charge, I recall it as being £3 not £2.50 but either way, the principal remains.

But the net effect will be to increase churn.

People who have stuck with Plusnet because their original contract was cheap, will start process of moving from ISP to ISP following the "special" offers.

Re: Updates To Your Service - Bah

That's all we need, even more people pushing trolleys around while they are nattering mindlessly on the phone..... and what sort of moron just dumps unwanted items literally anywhere - last week I saw a packet of pig's trotters on the bread shelf. The same one probably that drove off leaving an empty trolley in a parking space.

I bet it doesn't happen in Waitrose.

The 5X faster upload, didn't they just drop the 40/10 to 40/2 last year? Reminds me of Sky and those annoying letters they used to send (not been a member for over 10 years, way back in the analog days) saying we are introducing nn new channels (each lasting about 5 minutes and on in the middle of the night) and btw we are increasing your bill by £1 to cover it.

Thanks @Mav, yes, I did mean as a competitor ISP.  I've never been to an Aldi or Lidl; I'm not a brand snob, there just isn't one local to me, but we've been promised a Lidl soon, they are probably just waiting for the economy to get worse. Laugh

Just got the email. A 10% increase in price. The only possible 'benefit' that could possibly apply to me is:- We’re boosting our UK customer service team - there will be even more friendly, helpful people on hand to help. Thumbs_Up

Sitting on them.

Puzzled why this got moved to feedback as it was posted in chat so we could all generally poke fun at it and deviate from the subject when we feel like it. Hardly serious feedback as what would be the point.

Moved chat threads concerning plusnet have a history of being closed as soon as they start to deviate from the alleged subject. Unless that's the idea?Smiley (smile added)

Mods are customers as well so we would not benefit from moving posts or getting them closed down.

As for moving the thread from General Chat; it was an obvious discussion regarding Plusnet's latest price increase so, as staff don't frequent Chat so much, it was better being moved to Feedback so if they wanted to respond it would be more noticeable.

Yes they did, but due to customers complaining they put it back up to 40/10.

From an email dated 9 November 2017

It’s all good news! Improving your service, no cost no catch.

From November we’ll be boosting the upload speed of your service, going from 1.9Mbps up to a whopping 9.5Mbps, which should make uploading stuff to the internet quicker*.

Broadband upload speeds are important for most of the things you do online so we’re improving them for you, at no extra cost. This means things like sending emails with big attachments, uploading your holiday pics to Facebook and gaming will be quicker. Check out our blog post for more info on this.

There’s nothing for you to do, we’ve got it all sorted. You might have a small drop in your connection, no longer than a minute, whilst we work on this for you. Everything should reconnect straight away, if not just reboot your router. We’ll be back in touch once this has happened.

(my bold)

But why they've also made another announcement (probably to make us feel like they've done it recently due to the price rise) on an email dated 18 April 2018

...

Caller Display is becoming free and our broadband price is rising by £1.00. Any discounts or promotions you have will still stand. This means there will be a small change in your broadband bill.

...

Here are just some of the great things you’ll see:

  • Our superfast fibre broadband is even faster - we’ve increased upload speeds from up to 1.9Mbps to up to 9.5Mbps (that’s 5 x faster).**
  • We’re boosting our UK customer service team - there will be even more friendly, helpful people on hand to help.
  • Our Caller Display will be free for everyone - so you’ll save 99p a month.

(my bold)

So why else would they boost it once and then repeat this claim?

But at least I've found my way out Smiley
