To those who refuse to say how much they get from referrals, you not helping yourselves,

@chrcoluk I assume that was aimed at me ? Why i am not helping myself ?
As as said above "If a small out going cost , brings you in bigger revenue , then that is surely good business ?" In my view that is very fair
What PN pay out to me they get much much more back from my referrals.

I suppose I'm wrong to want a level playing field for all customer new and old.

Any customers new and old can refer customers

people with referrals especially a lot of them will likely be biased, as money changes people.

Do you really think, getting a few referrals back from PN each month is going to change people, it certainly does not me.

@ mlmclaren - To be fair, you don't pay for your father's broadband anyway.

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

Yet again I have come online and found another massive change to the service, first the 40/2 and now cutting call centre hours.
How long until we are advised users with surnames beginning with a,c,e,g etc. will get net access on the even numbered days and those beginning b,d,f,h etc. on odd numbered days.
I wonder what next week will hold?

I have never liked the plusnet referral system,

Agree.  Webif's total  referral's fee = £0

supposedbly those joining via cashback cannot, but it still gets enabled anyway as plusnet want the new customers.

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

I thought that would have been more about an existing customer couldn't receive referral money for a new customer who signs up via some cashback offer.
But the cashback system does make me wonder if some people have a vested interest in insisting all problems are due to Openreach, BTWholesale or your neighbour's wireless, and nothing is ever Plusnet's fault.

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

For God's sake people, lets put this referral business in to perspective - £45,000 is peanuts. Just consider how many customers getting £100 cashback that equates to. Plusnet will be giving away at least ten times that figure away each month in cashbacks.

Cashback is a one off, referral payments are each month continuing indefinitely. Perspective seems to depend on how you look at it.

Re: Telephone support hours changing at Plusnet

Just to put this (referrals 'discussion') into perspective, I have 2 referrals (one broadband only and one with telephone), between them they are paying Plusnet approximately £37 monthly and I receive £1.75 per month for the referrals.
If just one of them had got (say £100) cashback instead that would be equivalent to nearly 5 years of referral payment for both (and cashback customers could leave after 12 or 18 months) so please realise it's my referrals that are paying my discount and not other customers.
Cashback for new customers on discount offers is where Plusnet could be loosing money.
All customers can make referrals and earn discounts, accounts with cashback do not normally generate referral discounts because the cashback (certainly third party cashback) is the referral.
As Jelv said, £45,000 is nothing for a company with over 800,000 customers (collated users online graph shows around 860,000 connected customers at peak), at worst referrals are costing around 5p per month per user.
Referrals are a far more cost-effective way of getting new customers than cashback and annoying advertising (worse still a few years back when they sponsored 'Big Brother'  :-X)
As for opening hours, if service improves during the new hours then I have no real issue with the change.
