Pointless use of flash on support webpages

I have no idea why someone would decide to use flash to display what should presumably be a simple piece of text. It doesn't really work very well if you have the flash plugin configured as click to activate.
Edit: For example URL: http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/speed_guide/index.shtml?supporta=speedguide

Re: Pointless use of flash on support webpages

Do you mean the bits in the screen headings?  They aren't showing as flash for me.  Looking at the source there isn't anything particularly special about them:
<h3 class="fullBoxHeader txtHeader"><span>Getting Started</span></h3>

Ah right.  That isn't on that page for me.  I think we may have seen differences in support pages between business and residential before.  Something to do with the stylesheets when printing maybe?

Also consider that Flash does not work on iApple devices due to technology licensing arguments!  Roll_eyes

Re: Pointless use of flash on support webpages

The page will display fine if you don't have flash installed. It's only a problem if you have flash installed but set for click to activate. Still seems fairly pointless to use flash just to display a piece of text.

Working knowledge - one reason I've never used flash in web site developments - iApple is becoming very predominant / the browser of choice, so there is little point developing websites using unsupported technologies... especially to display what is otherwise plain text which would be better rendered via CSS / CSS3.
