Plusnet is the most unreliable broadband provider ever.

Hello
I joined plusnet on the 4th of Jan 2012, and now have cancelled on the 6th because the internet service keeps going on and off.
And now they want me to pay for cancelling  the crapy service they offer. Well I will not pay for a service I never enjoyed for 1 hour.
They are officially the worst thing that ever happened to the UK broadband service.
New customers pls don't join plusnet because it will be one of the worst decisions of your life.

We too, are very new to Plusnet and have suffered a few teething problems, but in all fairness, have so far had the problems resolved. With respect, maybe giving up so quickly, seems a bit unfair to Plusnet?

Re: Plusnet is the most unreliable broadband provider ever.

According to this article the "termination clause" only kicks in after 4 weeks of a broadband connection which fails to work.
ISP's have rights as well as responsibilities, and that includes the right to be given a reasonable amount of time to sort things out for you.

You do understand that the first 10 days of any new ADSL connection has a training period? You will get this training period no matter who your ADSL provider is and during this time frequent disconnections, slow speeds and drop outs are the norm.
For the record no problems with plusnet myself.

Re: Plusnet is the most unreliable broadband provider ever.

I have been with Plusnet for nearly a year. When I joined I had speeds of 0.9 following intervention by the helpful Plusnet staff I now get 3.7 .A quadrupling over that time ,and in addition I pay £180 pa ,less than before.
But then I did allow them to make the necessary adjustments.
If you would like to see which broadband provider is the worst ,go to a local library and look at a Which magazine, you can then see providers rated by many hundreds of users based on their experience over time.

I was with Plusnet from 2005, I thought the service was excellent, when i asked to be put on to maxdsl+2 for faster speed the said my line is at its fastest which I excepted @ 8mb.
However I just changed to sky unlimited WOW, what a service,
the told me when the change over takes place,
they recieved my mac key I did not need to do anything,
i got text messege saying the post will arrive on that day with modem,
I had on queery i posted on there forum next thing my phone rang from sky to sort my problem
and best off all i get 18mb download speeds. Unlimited Truly UNLIMITED
I should have moved long time ago

Re: Plusnet is the most unreliable broadband provider ever.

OP, what a shame that you wouldn't give Plusnet ANY time to look into your problem and instead elected to cancel and then criticize them on here.
Now you'll move to another ISP, who possibly don't have as much expertise in dealing with BT (except for specialist providers such as AAISP who you'd pay much more for) and you'll potentially be stuck with a bad line that still needs fixing. Of course, it could all be part of the training process, which takes 10 days and does cause line drops as it tries higher speeds to discover which is the most stable for you. If you'd read the information when you signed up you would probably have known this, as well as the charge for terminating the contract.
Plusnet don't set out to screw around with your connection. I would bet that the majority of problems are with internal wiring or devices in the home, followed by line faults between the home and exchange.

This is a feedback forum and having a dig at other posters isn't acceptable and also unhelpful.
A number of posts have been removed and I would appreciate it if it doesn't continue

Re: Plusnet is the most unreliable broadband provider ever.

I had nothing but problems with Wanadoo/ Orange, so I joined Sky.
Again I had nothing but problems, I was offline more than being online,I was actually paying for a non working service!
I was loosing connections all the time, Sky kept saying everything was fine with their equipment
I hasten to add, ALL the phone calls were Premium numbers, it was costing me a fortune, they never rang back, or tried to contatc me, the service was horrendous!
Their call centres were outside the Uk, my computer was nearly thrown out it was so very frustating!
After 6 weeks Sky found a fault with their equipment..
Eventually the service stabalized, but I had a huge telepone bill for ALL the premium calls to their customer support, as they never contacted me!.
I stayed with them for 5 years, I then wanted rid of my Sky box,, so Sky increased my sky broadband package to £14.99 per month!
I decided enough was enough, so I joined Plusnet, and Yes I too had teething problems, sometimes no connections all very frustrating and annoying, believe me!- BUT ALL the phone calls were free.
I raised a ticket in the proper Customer Support Tab, not in this forum as others have, my case was taken on board quickly, I received daily updates and many home phone calls. and text messages.
Within 2 weeks Plusnet sent a BT engineer to my house and the local exchange, where the cable fault was rectified and the speed was increased, at no expense to myself, I was also re imbursed for 1 months broadband fee.
PLUSNET CUSTOMER SUPPORT IS SECOND TO NONE!!
Even last weekend the forum was kept up to date with the power problems at the site.,,,  THUMBS UP FOR PLUSNET!!

Look, I've had more problems than most people with plusnet but you were connected for 2 days in the training period.  2 days! Give them chance to sort it out for crying out loud.

This happened to me too but after a few days it settled down. The service I have here is much more stable that the one I had previously with Orange which would cut out several times a day at times - and trying to get customer service with them was hopeless.
Can I assume you've discussed this with the PlusNet helpline before posting here?
